What is Found Object Art?

Found object art is about working with what is “right in front of you" to repurpose items; to produce meaningful art that is sculptural in nature. It is often about expressing yourself with things meaningful to you alone. Instead of tossing out what you think is trash – you save and reuse it in an artful way. It is “green art” or environmentally friendly art. Working with the children allowed them to understand in a different way how easy it is to waste things and also how easy it is to instead make something beautiful from what would have been wasted – or worse – piled up in a trash dump. Inspired by the shapes and colors - even textures, these children created sculptures, scenes and even in some cases working items such as purses from discarded items.

What is Create Visions ™?
Create Visions™ infuses its participants with a need to explore ideas, through, music, dance, art and story telling. Participants discover their connection to each other and their inner and outer worlds. They tap inner resources and a desire for self- expression. They discover that ideas if not new, can be altered. They find that they need not copy, but can modify and rid themselves of pre-conceived ideas.As the story-teller (Susan Adler George) spins non-sense poems stories and tales, the participants act out mirroring what they hear. This inspires new visions. Every action has a re-action and as the story-teller, I must “funnel” information and facts in a way that will inspire the participants to create their own stories and then write and create costumes and masks which culminates in a performance.
