What is Create Visions?

Create Visions™ a multi-arts program, is based on a cavalcade of Non-sense characters developed by George. It infuses its participants with a need to explore ideas - through music, dance, art and story-telling. Participants discover their connection to each other and their inner and outer worlds. They tap inner resources and a desire for self-expression. They discover that ideas, if not new, can be altered. They find that they need not copy, but can modify and rid themselves of pre-conceived ideas.

This inspires new visions. "Every action has a re-action and as the story-teller, I must “funnel” information and facts in a way that will inspire the participants to create their own stories and then write and create costumes and masks which culminates in a performance."

This program is one that goes into other organizations."

On August 2, 2008, at the Baltimore Theatre Project, more than 30 adults and children watched an uplifting, colorful performance. A group of seven children ages 9 – 14, inspired by the Create Visions storytelling program developed the frame work for a semi-improvisational piece. With less than ten days to learn about theatre, music and dance composition, costuming and staging, the children impressed the audience with a quick, free and well-orchestrated semi-improvisational piece on the acclaimed Theatre Project’s stage.

“I came to the dress rehearsal to take pictures. I was surprised by the artistic outpouring of the kids and was struck by the power of Susan’s unique teaching styles.” Will G.  -

Ignats started as an imaginary character in their workshop classes and evolved into the main character for the final production. Spirits, wizards and other creatures taunted Ignats, pressuring him to choose between good and evil. This 20-minute performance showcased the children’s creativity and ability to transform from a few kids laughing and making up stories to a cohesive team working for the betterment of all. They developed the loose story line, and under the teacher’s supervision, coordinated the staging and choreography.  The children also designed their own costumes using found art objects, material scraps and vintage clothing.  An interesting combination of circus music, new age, jazz and techno supported this cast as they took stage.
The final outcome – Ignats and the spirits join for a dance party to welcome a happy, better way of life.
